Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup milk dairy or unsweetened plant milk
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch fine salt
  • 1/2 cup fresh berries plus more for serving

Instructions

  1. Stir the milk, yogurt, chia seeds, maple syrup, vanilla, and salt together in a jar or covered bowl until smooth.
  2. Add the oats and stir thoroughly. Fold in half of the berries, cover, and let the mixture stand for 5 minutes.
  3. Stir again so the chia seeds are evenly distributed, then cover and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight.
  4. In the morning, stir from the bottom. Add milk 1 tablespoon at a time if the oats are thicker than you like, then top with the remaining berries.

Notes

  • Use old-fashioned oats for the best texture. Quick oats become softer; steel-cut oats need a different method.
  • For gluten-free needs, use oats labeled or certified gluten-free.
  • Refrigerate promptly at 40°F (4°C) or below and enjoy within 3 to 4 days. Add crunchy toppings just before serving.
  • Nutrition is an estimate calculated from USDA FoodData Central values; brands and substitutions will change the result.
