Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 8 standard black tea bags or the package equivalent for 8 cups
  • 4 cups fresh water just boiled
  • 4 cups ice measured
  • lemon slices and mint optional, for serving

Instructions

  1. Place the tea bags in a heat-safe pitcher or large measuring bowl. Pour the just-boiled water over them and steep for 4 to 5 minutes.
  2. Remove the tea bags without squeezing. If sweetening, stir the sweetener into the hot concentrate until dissolved.
  3. Put the measured ice in a clean pitcher. Pour the hot tea concentrate over the ice and stir until most of the ice melts.
  4. Serve immediately over fresh ice, or cover and refrigerate promptly. Add lemon and mint to individual glasses if desired.

Notes

  • Check the package if using family-size tea bags; bag yields vary.
  • Green and jasmine teas usually need cooler water and a shorter steep.
  • Nutrition is for unsweetened tea and does not include optional sugar.
